“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil.
Our emotions will almost always lead us away from our new creation righteousness. It’s ok to be upset to the point of anger, but we are to evaluate that anger to test the spiritual root of it. Injustices plagues mankind. Being enlightened by Holy Spirit, we can easily see the unjust acts of other people and condemn them with their actions.
I fell in to that trap recently when some misinformed people burned the Christian churches and properties of the Elect in Pakistan. But the spirit behind those attacks was a spirit of religion that taught the people they had a right to take action against the Christians because they believed that the Christians had violated their holy book. The Word says that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but powers and principalities and rulers of this dark age. So we pray and stand in agreement with the Word that those misguided souls can be redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ and liberated from their evil inclinations.
We take authority over those lesser spirits because, greater is HE that is in me than he that is in the world. Getting liberated from our own misconceptions and our own false religious beliefs can help to crush those puny lying spirits. Truth liberates without condemning a soul that is precious to our Heavenly Father. Being angry is ok, but we need to hate the right object.
Refocusing our attention on the principalities that control our sphere of influence releases healing and salvation. Watching for opportunities to share the Gospel is essential to releasing the Kingdom of Heaven’s influence on our area. Laying hands on the sick and expecting recovery signals to those inferior rulers that the Kingdom of Heaven is alive and well and expanding into their stolen territories. Healing and victory is our inheritance.
Unfortunately, some of our leaders try to teach us that anger is a legitimate emotion and it’s an emotion that Father has as well. Well not exactly. Father’s wrath is against sin and it differs from our anger in that it cost Him the highest price to purge us from our sins if we choose to accept the marvelous, gracious gift of salvation.
Most of our emotions are tainted from the old man and most teachers lecture us in controlling our new creations, through old creation temperance. Our NEW lives need a new approach and that new approach is being steadfast in our new creation identity. Anger is just not a part of who we are any longer. Hallelujah! Let’s not let misplaced anger get the best of us.
Father, I am exceedingly grateful that You have made me a new creation. My old emotions are crucified with Christ Jesus and no longer live. Rather, I am filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control.
I’m truly grateful that You have made me new. I will constantly remind myself of Your truth. I know that I will accomplish all of the plans that You have for me. I love You. In Jesus name. Amen.
