Confidence in God’s Sovereignty: Understanding Trials and Overcoming Fear

Psalm 119:75

I know, O Lord, that Your judgments are right,

And that in faithfulness You have afflicted me.

I used to confuse the attacks of satan on my finances, health, and family with Father’s chastisement and correction. I judged circumstances through the lens of the sovereignty of God. I was a “God allowed it” type of Christian. I figured that God was in control. Well, Father is sovereign and He is in control ultimately. But for right now this planet is being governed by a corrupt cut-off-withering branch that detests the image bearers.

The all-time-loser presents circumstances that look like it’s Father’s doing to derail new creations from becoming all that we can become. Why? Because satan knows that Jesus Christ has made us powerful new creations. For example; in the book of Job where the fire came down from heaven to consume Jobs’ family.

It was said that it was Father’s fire but it was sent by satan. Now some would say that Father “allowed it” and that He “sent it” but we learn in the book of Genesis that mankind died in the garden after eating the forbidden fruit. Therefore, there is a rotten, unfair, evil little, putrid current ruler of this planet.

During the time of Job, all creation had already fallen. Father does chastise and discipline His children. He also uses all things to work towards good for those who love Him.

Father will turn what the enemy meant for evil to end up working out best for us and produce growth and transformation for those who are willing to be taught through crisis. So what about the hedge of protection that was lowered on Job? And where is our protection? Great questions.

Our hope is not found in this life. Neither do we love our own lives unto death. Rather we have traded the old life for the new one and we are fearless of death, or at least we should be and can work towards that fear-free life. Also, Jesus has given us authority that goes unused. If we can force ourselves to believe we can overcome any obstacle and all of the enemies’ devices then we will see exponential transformation. Hallelujah!!!

Father, I’m so grateful for Your Word. I know that I have misjudged You in the past. For that, I am sorry. I know that You have forgiven me and I want to walk in all the confidence of my amazing new creation.
Your benevolence is huge and amazing. I’m grateful that You have bestowed great dignity on me. I will take every thought captive that is contrary to Your Word. I am free of fear forever. I love You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
