“And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.”
There are so many great lessons from shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. One of which is identity. The three boys knew Who’s they were. They knew that they didn’t belong to the world but that they were the property of Father. They had settled in their hearts and minds that Father would rescue them or they would be forever in His presence.
They had conquered their fear through their faith. I’m sure they were afraid as they approached the furnace but went anyway and stumbled into a divine appointment. By choice we can take Fathers Word as absolute truth. We can decide to agree with what the powerful Word of God says no matter what is going on around us or how we feel.
Being made new creations has forever separated us from our past. We are not identified by our sins any longer. Nor are we identified by the sins that have been committed against us. Jesus has destroyed the power of all generational curses from our lives permanently. We are not the child who used to get beaten, we are not the child who was neglected, we are not the child who was a burden.
We are loved, forgiven, accepted, cherished, and valued beyond comprehension. The cut off withering branch wants us to wallow in self pity so that we don’t walk in the power and freedom that Jesus Christ has purchased for us at the highest cost heaven could pay. The smell of the fire shouldn’t even be on us.
The memories of the past need to be regenerated into praise every time they rear their ugly head. For instance, if we are reminded of a time when we discovered that we were more a burden to our parents than a blessing then turn that into a vigorous praise event. Raise up a standard of praise by saying something like, “Father, I’m so grateful that I am Your child.
I am wholly loved and chosen and special. I have gifts to share with the world and I am valuable. I am a new creation filled with remarkable abilities and tremendous value”. After a while those feelings lose their power and grip and even satan becomes tired of hearing you turn his little reminders into praise. Whatever trial you find yourself in turn it into a tribute to Jesus who will rescue you from it before it happens. And like our Savior who walked in the fire with those three boys, ignore the devils schemes.
Jesus didn’t put out the fire, rather He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies so that we can gloat in our identities and purposes and great victories right in the devils face. Let’s embrace Jesus and our new identity through every storm. Agreement with the Word of God takes the power out of the fire. He is with us and will never forsake us. Hallelujah!
Father, I am so grateful for Your unfailing love. Your faithful beyond what I have experienced even in my own family. I am not my past or my current negative situation. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am holy and blameless and above reproach. I am valuable.
I am free from sins pull, sins stain, and sins memory. My new creation is sparkling and brand new and equipped for every good work that You have for me to accomplish. I will walk in great victory and freedom from now on. I will not fear death because I will be with You forever. When and if I do feel fear I will praise my way through it. I’m forever thankful. I love You. In Jesus name. Amen.
