Rooted in Christ: Living Our New Creation Identity
Colossians 2:7
Rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
The choice to put on the new man is completely up to us. We must take thoughts captive that don’t line up with the Holy Word of God. The Holy Word says that we are new creations washed clean by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and He has given us His perfect righteousness. The status that Jesus imparts to us is almost too good to be true.
The lying cut-off withering branch and his little imps work overtime to steal our identity and desperately try to convince us that we are undeserving of the privilege of being called a child of God. If Father paid the highest price for our freedom then we have to be valuable to Him. He thinks that we deserved the necessary sacrifice of Jesus Christ or He would have just made a religion with us and not a new covenant.
We didn’t earn our salvation but Father definitely thought that We deserved His best sacrifice based on His love for us and the high value that He placed on His image bearers from the beginning of time. He saw our condition, granted us mercy and acted with phenomenal love and grace to release us from the snare of un- righteousness.
Father went through great suffering to win our deliverance from the fall of humanity. He saw our situation and because He loves us and values us He formulated the most brilliant rescue operation of all time.
His epic plan doesn’t just free us from sin but it also makes us new creations, affords us the high favor of God, crucifies our flesh, heals us, delivers us from all fears, and makes us righteous and holy and blameless forever. His salvation is a huge gift that most believers leave un-opened.
Our enemy uses deception, our performance and the way that seems right to a man to keep us from realizing our full potential as sons and daughters of the Most High God. Our poor performance and our failures are not what gets us into son-ship and daughter-ship in the first place.
It is the grace of God poured out through Jesus Christ that speaks volumes about the great value that Father places on us prior to our conversion. As the image bearers of our Holy Father we have inherent value from Him and in Christ we are released from our bondage to decay and set free to walk boldly and confidently in our brand new holy creation status.
We are rooted in Christ with strong vibrant roots that go down deep into the soil of eternity to bring us the nutrients necessary to sustain new life. Our identity and our future are established forever.
We are powerful new creations that have been granted the righteousness and authority and strength and power of Jesus Christ Himself to thrive in. What is lacking is our full unfettered agreement. Accepting all of our Christ given status as absolute truth anchors us in our transformation and crushes the works of darkness.
Believing truth is a choice that propels us into walking in the Spirit in power and in love and in great hope. Let’s choose to agree with truth today more than ever before and watch as we see ourselves become more and more Christlike. Hallelujah!
Father, I am overwhelmed by Your amazing grace. You have freed me completely from sin and death. You have rooted and established me in the faith. I will be more bold and confident in the finished work of Jesus Christ in me which is the hope of glory. I will destroy pretensions that set themselves in opposition to the truth of Your Holy Word.
I believe everything that You say in Your Word is absolute truth. I agree completely with Your Word please help to clearly understand Your precepts so I can walk in great power and authority.
I am extremely thankful for Your Word. I am so grateful that You rescued me and made me a new creation, righteous and holy and blameless and above reproach. I’m forever thankful for my new creation status. I love You. In Jesus name. Amen.
