James 2:23

And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.

Abraham, before the law, attained righteousness.  But how? By choosing to believe in and agree with the fact that what Father says is truth. Simple agreement with the Word of God  plus carefully placed trust in what Father says, no matter how his situation looked or felt, allowed Abram to thrive in his God given righteousness. It is the same for us now. We have been granted the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Jesus imparts to us His great accomplishment through our “yes” to Him. When we saw our sin and our need for a Savior and we acknowledged Jesus as that Savior we walked into the most marvelous covenant extended to mankind from the Almighty Creator.

This graceful covenant is more solid than concrete and more dependable than any relationship that we could ever imagine. Fathers love compels His value system and extends to us great worthiness. Mostly, our covenant with Father is one sided, in that we perform poorly in this new covenant often mistaking it for a contract. But we can improve our side by accepting and agreeing with Fathers Word.

Whenever we look at our walk and evaluate Fathers love for us through our circumstances or our performance we judge amiss and bring condemnation, guilt, and shame upon ourselves, (contract living). Because we are IN Christ, Father never condemns us. Father doesn’t see our performance. Father sees Jesus’s performance.

Father sees Jesus’s righteousness imparted to us through our “yes” to new creation, born again life. We may pop in and out of covenant but Father never, ever changes His mind about His great love for us. He never waivers in the amount of value He places on us because He has purchased us with the highest price.

He never looks back and says, I guess it was a mistake to give my best for this one, never! So if He never leaves us nor forsakes us then why do we think that we have the right to judge ourselves or to forsake ourselves or to loath ourselves? Let’s stop living in a contract style relationship with our Father and stop judging ourselves based on our performance and start encouraging ourselves to choose the truth. The truth is that we are indeed the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

The truth is that there is therefore now NO condemnation. The truth is we are extremely valuable. The truth is we are in an unbreakable covenant. The truth is we are measured by Christ’s performance. Jesus has chosen to make us friends with Father and coheirs with Him. Hallelujah! Let’s choose to agree with this amazing new creation covenant that we are in and stop living in doubt and fear and unbelief.

Father, I’m so grateful for Your amazing grace. Your covenant is wonderfully crafted and extraordinarily generous. I will walk in great confidence knowing that You look at me through the lens of Jesus Christ’s performance.

I am a new creation filled with Holy Spirit. I know that You highly value me and I highly value myself. I know that You love me greatly and I also love myself greatly. I understand through the revelations of Your Holy Spirit that I am a new creation filled with hope. I have a grand destiny that You have knit deep into my soul. I will search and find the things that You have planned for me to do. I’m really excited about our journey together. I love You. In Jesus name. Amen.
